I like this analogy but I guess I see it more like man inventing the knife, so he doesn't have to rip the animal to shreds with his bare hands anymore.

Funny thing, I'm trying to get going with Dagster today like I said, and figuring out how to debug is a bit .. annoying. The most helpful post I've come across so far just happens to be https://georgheiler.com/202

Hey Georg, thanks for posting. I've been working on building a thing with almost the same stack lately and the Dagster integration is my next large-ish step. In the last couple weeks I've kicked around Duck and Clickhouse for th

As the other poster mentioned, DBT is an open core product and I'm not sure how you'd use the cloud service on a local DB install anyway. Airflow and DBT don't really do the same things anyway.

Totally, it seems like every tech thing I’ve gotten to in the last 12 years or so - Drupal, Ansible, rpi, a few other things I can’t think of right now - geerlingguy was there a few years before I found it.

Could you elaborate on the accounting part? I'm deeply involved with billing on all three and while AWS seems to have all the data you're looking for in the CUR, it can be a multi-quarter job to build up the expertise to understan

In contrast to my comment above about Azure taking care of the people who pay the bills, GCP's design around the billing and understanding spend UX is absolutely the most hostile of the big 3. Their design choices around hardware reser

I'll tell you what Azure does better - way better - than the other big 2 American vendors: they make it vastly easier for the people who pay the bills to understand what's going on (without having to spend 10 years as a Devops eng

I really, really like your idea with Evidence. I long for a mode in Metabase that’s like a “notebook mode”, where the main focus is narrative and it’s ornamented with viz, rather than the other way around. I want to be able to publish this

Arbitrage maybe? Like, the tendency of markets to arbitrage profit margins downward unless a company has some kind of moat? In this context it's kind of confusing (maybe like "to be arb'd"?) and I might be totally wrong!
