I think using the word "obvious" is very misplaced here. Obvious would suggest that fully understanding the statement is something the casual person would arrive at given no help or extraneous thought into the statement. This is simply not

Nothing against the author at all, this seems like a cool little project, but I would never want to inline that much anything on a large project. Inlining things like that takes the maintainability and throws it out the window.

I think that's the entire point behind this article. What you're talking about and what "big data" actually exists as, are two different things. What you're talking about is data refinement. As you said, linking things together and trying t

Is this going to be another case of getting bought by AOL and then buying back from them after a while? http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/05/about-me-buys-itsel...

> Google's OTR and OTR XMPP spec are different > The specs are not different. They are completely different things. Do you not have any reading comprehension? That's literally what I said. I haven't said anything against OTR at

Sorry but respectively, no. I can't allow you to trash Aaron's name like that. Aaron was actually a child prodigy and a borderline genius who had done more than this at 14 years old. This kid plays with JavaScript and wrote a chrome extensi

As you said. "Virtually". All of this relies on you trusting the third party involved here and that was my point. Whether its Google or some 23 year old kid, or if its open source or not doesn't matter. He is quite literally doing the same

I'm sorry, I thought this was "hacker" news. I Expected people would know that Google's OTR and OTR XMPP spec are different. My point was that you shouldn't be using 3rd party services to talk to people if the information is legitimately se

Absolutely. Do a little more than surface level digging and this guy is really just a child playing with toys and announcing it loudly to the world.

Google still has access to the cleartext as it passes through their servers. Right, and cryptocat doesn't, 'cuz they said so on their website!

They're caught up in the moment, I'm guessing. My first reaction was "where are the logs? show me some kind of actual proof" . Otherwise this is just some kid who's paranoid and has a rootkit on his machine or something.

Really not a fan of "sprout", "harvest" or "graft". They're not descriptive of what's happening just by their name.

Really cool to see how you guys are doing and what your costs are. The services/hardware are becoming exorbitantly cheap and manpower/expertise is becoming expensive.
