I used and still really adore tinc, it's been a joy to use. I will say however that development appears to have fizzled out. I was really looking forward to some of the changes in 1.1, but it's been in pre-release for years now an

I'm on the fence about these subsidies, because I worry it's a bit of a zero-sum game versus infrastructure. Wouldn't adding miles of protected bike lanes go further than tax breaks for these devices, and improve the situatio

To save some people a click, the headline made me assume this was something like CoreOS, but this is in fact the opposite. It's not a traditional Linux distro you can actually run standalone, it's just another base for building OC

Fixing bad infrastructure takes time, but you don't even need that to reduce pedestrian deaths. If only people had smaller vehicles the rate of survival would go way up. I could pretty easily imagine a sliding vehicle tax scale where s

Yes, and the open source/core nature is IMO the single biggest feature of GitLab. The value proposition just doesn't look great to me when you're apples-to-apples comparing cloud hosted Gitlab to cloud hosted GitHub.

Yeah, it's quite strange. Not only in the fact that it's even more closed and walled off than Reddit (as you correctly note), but it's not even the same "type" - Discord is an IRC-type, not a newsgroup-type. It'

I've come to the same conclusion. I wish HN would just ban the whole domain. The signal to noise ratio on substack is abysmal, with these pundits cum journalists fuelling the confirmation biases of their patrons with clickbait.

It stands to reason that the people most inclined to see and participate in a reddit poll about protesting a reddit policy would be a self-selecting group of enthusiasts (e.g. the 1% rule[0]). I suspect a vast majority of reddit users don&#

The problem here is how many regular people got scammed in that window while crypto scams were essentially entirely unregulated. The lack of any meaningful oversight of this stuff for so long is a bug, not a feature.
