Controllers still control, believe it or not. I want tests to assert that I return a file type. Theres method on the base controller for doing that. It, too, is protected. So I need to wrap my controller in a test. Need to assert that the r

Maybe it's because I'm tired. Maybe it's because I'm half reading this article while my 2yo is bathing/playing in the bath But that looks like a really error prone syntax.. error prone like writing Brainfuck I mean.

That does indeed work but it's quite different from piping. But thanks that has increased my productivity! I use fzf a lot so I'll be adapting it for that too :)

Yeah, another one I haven't worked out yet is opening mulitple files from shell. So far this is what I can come up with: @(Get-ChildItem *.ts | foreach { $_.Name } | Join-String -Separator ' ') | foreach { nvim -- $_ }

dir works because it's actually an alias of Get-ChildItem, which returns a list of objects (DirectoryInfo or FileInfo). My example was specifically a list of paths that are not objects but just strings.

I still find it grating with how pipes are handled. E.g. git ls-files --exclude-standard -o | For-Each { Remove-Item $_ } Just.. _why_ do I need that For-Each?! (Deliberately not using aliases for clarity)

Do you prohibit the use of VSCode in your workplace? Anyone using that is using jsonschema. It's built into the applicatoin for its settings and configuration files. Plugins and extensions use it to manage their own config _and_ as val

I've not had much friction using either, they are "close enough" that the time to (re)write a query from one to the other is not very significant.

I have a mildly different perspective, that is also shown in the quote about testing infrastructure that I think the author missed - it's not so much about instant gratification as it is identifying how to see the results. Take the sec
