That's weird, especially with the exhaustive details you provided there. I've rarely had any connection issues with Google Pixel (7 currently) and Debian with Plasma 5 or 6 on x86 / 64 platforms.

Doubling capability every 18 months while halving in price, is not the opposite of 'compute capacity staying roughly the same from now on'.

We arrived in Kyoto last night, and a few hours ago (very briefly) visited the Nishiki markets the author mentions - can confirm that they were awful. Being middle aged Australians, we are definitely part of the problem described, but takin

I think perhaps you have misunderstood what a counterpoint is.

Counterpoint - the best single thing you can do for the planet, in terms of minimising your consumption / ecological footprint, is to not spawn.

I find that people with strong, pro fission feelings, but no hard numbers, often preface their opinions on the matter with phrases like 'honestly' or 'objectively' or 'non idealogically'. Concentration of power

Being about 10,000 kilometres from the US, I can't conveniently look around there. I expect these guys had 'trees' on their risk register, and have suggested to the site owners to purchase a chainsaw / rent an excavator

You're coming up with some pretty flimsy reasons that this can't work, and that you believe the people funding, designing, and building these systems haven't contemplated -- such as 'trees'.

Indeed, I am definitely misremembering key parts of that story - the actions of the definite 'AI' SI's, at least. I wanted to - and still do - side-step spoilers, so I'll concede an error, and bump it back up my TB(r)R l

I adore Banks' universe, but recall reading some notes from him years ago, as tialaramex indicated, that 'all the interesting stuff happens at the edge' given utopias are, almost by definition, pretty tedious. Even though the

Do you actually need S3-alike? I run distribution [0] / registry [1] as a docker (via Nomad) job, and it just uses a shared nfs mount in my cluster - ie. EXT4 FS underneath. Currently has 12GB and 52 repositories, and is very performan

Does garage-dev have a GUI? I thought it did not. I'm using it in my lab, along with an older instance of minio, and both are excellent choices I think. (I'm running both as HA jobs within a Hashicorp Nomad cluster, which complica

Okay, I think you're in a different part of the world to me, then - I can generate about 85kWh in a day here, mid-summer, about 34 degrees south, and that's throttled by my 10kW inverter. I could go higher with a better inverter,

Are your figures, notably 4-6 hours of generation, overlooking the potential for home battery owners to buy power in during off-peak (cheaper) periods, for either their own usage, or for selling back to the grid, at other times?

In Australia it's common to have Time of Usage (ToU) billing. Figures depend on provider and plan, but sometimes cheap (as per parent's 6c / kWh), but during the midday to 6pm range it may be up to 60c. So, grid rates aren&#x
