So far, almost all interest comes from within the Clojure community. Getting people from outside of Clojure requires a lot of education around Lisps, FP, data-oriented programming, interactive programming, etc. It's a whole paradigm sh

I likely will, since I like building engines! It's not something I aim to productize though. Also, the more immediate win will be getting jank into Unity and Unreal.

In some ways, it allows me to speed up, since I can focus my full work week on jank. In other ways, it allows me to slow down (to not burn out), since I can stop working nights and through the weekends on jank. Previously, Mon->Wed night

Yay! Congrats on the release! Any chance I can put this on my new rpi5 or will that require some additonal porting? Currently running 21 by konstakang. I've been trying to build a controller-driven media machine.

Thanks for the shout out. :) It's always great to see more Clojure dialects. For those jankers wondering what Glojure means for Clojure on native, the main thing to note is that Glojure is an interpreter. No JIT or AOT compilation (rig

Thanks! I'm exciting to get it released. With the three mentees I have, plus my own tasks cruising along, the best way people can help is to build up interest and visibility in jank. Follow, repost, share, like, etc. Once jank is relea

Often times, when people learn Clojure, they are also learning functional programming and lisp and data-oriented programming and interactive programming all at once. Writing Clojure requires a shift in perspective, coming from the imperativ

jank is not easy to use yet. Removing vcpkg and the PCHs certainly helps with compilability, but with jank still being pre-alpha, it takes an adventurous spirit to get it going. Hang tight and we'll have binary releases coming next yea

I may be biased, having built a career in game dev, but I would love to see people developing games using a REPL. Many games these days use Lua or similar for scripting logic, since it doesn't need to be written in C++, it can change a

jank is still under heavy development. It is not released yet. A lot of features are working, or complete, but the language is at least several months out from being alpha released. The majority of this is captured here: https://

> But again, Jank is not clojure .. just clojure-like, or so it seem jank is Clojure. If it works on Clojure JVM and it works on ClojureScript, it should generally work on jank. Clojure doesn't have a language specification, but the

Yes! Since jank is using LLVM, AOT compiled jank programs have a path to WASM. This isn't a primary goal for jank, but it's one we can definitely pursue once jank's Clojure parity and general dev UX has been established.

Not production ready. Not very usable right now. I need several more months to improve the tooling, error handling, and general compilation functionality. Stay tuned!

Yep! MPS was considered, but Boehm was significantly easier to get going. For jank's next GC, the plan is to use MMTK.

This is a great suggestion. I've been doing some research on Mojo, but didn't realize MLIR was the recommended approach going forward. I'll look more into this. Codegen is pretty straightforward, from jank's AST, just us

With Graal native images, JIT compilation is not an option any longer. The runtime is static. With jank, you have a native binary, but you can JIT compile code with it and interop seamlessly with the native world. jank will also have an opt

In terms of design, Janet is Clojure-inspired, but very much does its own thing. jank is a Clojure, such that any existing Clojure code you have will work. Largely speaking, only Java intorop needs to be ported, using a reader conditonal.

jank will have full nREPL support, so the REPL story should be at parity with Clojure. I'm working on the nREPL server now We're JIT compiling C++ code, so there are indeed more dragons.

Transducers, in Clojure, are implemented in Clojure, rather than in Java. In jank, the Clojure source for transducers is exactly the same. For example: https://github.com/jank-lang/jank/blob/a14f4d7c7e8097d5ab

Anyone wanting to work on a new language is most welcome to help out on mine: jank. It's a native Clojure dialect on LLVM with C++ interop and all the JIT goodies one expects from a lisp. jank is currently part of a mentorship program,
