Neural rendering? I doubt it. Check out deep learning super sampling though (DLSS) from NVIDIA, which has to be plumbed into the game itself to enable. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/technologies/dlss&#x

Synthetic media is definitely going to be big, for better or for worse. It's so obvious that visual mediums are just going to continue to dominate time spent on screens. It seems odd that lots of the pixels we see today are manually pu

Totally, appreciate the discourse btw! Here are my thoughts for where the blockchain buzzword is useful: - Consensus around asset ownership -- every render to the network automatically ascribes authorship of the final render via a minting p

For the record I wouldn't argue "blockchain" is the only possible means of decentralization/distribution for offloading graphics compute. With that said, an example would be a solo artist making CGI in C4D for a client&#

> decentralization overhead costs more than centralized farm. Say more :) Definitely with you distributed doesn't mandate decentralized and the two are easy to conflate.

Agreed that is one of the hairier challenges a concept like this faces. I do think that argument is worth unpacking though. Would a render node in your neighborhood have acceptable latency? IIRC they have demoed "real-time" NFT&#x

Certainly -- rendering services are great. I just think a decentralized approach wins on cost, accessibility, compatibility, and quality of service in certain instances. And I think the margin it wins by enables a whole new class of product

I find the render network's ambition to be very compelling, and think the decentralized approach to rendering is necessary. Could something similar be accomplished with a centralized model? Theoretically yes definitely. Practically tho

PG making a case for the "idea guy"! It's interesting to see how often that trope is shot down in SV culture. I appreciate that he is qualifying or preconditioning the value of the idea guy as having intelligence along with o

Three.js For folks who know any react I'd recommend react-three-fiber [1] as your entrypoint. It's ridiculously easy to get started. The creator (mlsarecmg on HN, I think), just came out with this tutorial today for beginners: ht

Nobody invests purely in a stablecoin if it's value is pegged to fiat. All else equal it's actually worse than holding dollars in a bank account which has a nominal interest rate. The point of stable coins is to have a working cap

I wonder if there's some tacit understanding between HR/recruiting/biz at tech companies that paying for retention will lead to engineering comp running wild across the board and make all of these businesses more expensive to
