I agree on the first point. But I find the dot product much more geometrical than the cosine. So in my mind your argument is in favour of geometry!

I refuse to call cyan either blue or green. It’s clearly in between. Just like I would never call orange yellow or red.

Skin texture is very hard it seems. I’m often developing raw photos and the noise reduction often remove skin texture too much. Especially when I was editing photos of our newborn, there is just so much little details that easily gets lost

I must admit that, when changing to Mac, I had to get used to that. (Btw opening is cmd+arrow down.) Now I’m changing back to windows and have to get used to pressing F2 instead…

I don’t think intuition is the right word. If you have never seen a box plot before, your intuition will not help parse it. (Unlike violin plots.)

I know it’s not done to comment only on the websites appearance, but on a small screen the website is a mess: https://pasteboard.co/JoVqLPM106ks.png

I read the linked article by Boats and found it great. I was really amazed by the 50-years old quote by Hoare, it’s still relevant and very well put.

Exiftool is one of those open source tools which provides a lot of features just for free. It’s really amazing that people can work on something like this for so long.

I have a hard time understanding what “an average user” is. Sure an average user of ableton live prefers a piano roll, and an average user of musescore prefers sheet music. The title of the post is about composition. This can also mean diff

One thing I always wonder with these benchmarks is: do we want to know the best possible runtime for a language or the runtime of idiomatic/average implementations? Even with C there are loads of compiler flags (and compilers) to choos

In Haskell you typically don’t allocate any memory when using the default list type, because of laziness. The it’s totally fine and efficient. Just don’t use it to store data for later retrieval.
