Hey I mean I'm not super likely to use both tiger data and tiger graph, but using both tailscale and timescale has resulted in some awkward mixups

That's a good reason! I think with UUIDv7, because it's sequential it's indexes are faster than UUIDv4. Still larger than bigints though. I'd like to do a benchmark at some point

I find it very much depends on the LLM you're using. Gemini feels more likely to push back than claude 3.7 is. Haven't tried claude 4 yet

I'm not super sure about it being in the filename, if only because my understanding is that some of the lakes use it for partitioning and other metadata (metameta-data?). Imo range is probably the most useful statistic in a folder/

That's fair! I guess I see it as trading technical complexity with the human complexity of getting everyone on board with an update to the standard, and getting that standard implemented across the board. It's a lot easier to get

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something about how ducklake works, but isn't that the purpose of the 'catalog database'? To store the metadata about all the files to optimize the query? In theory, going off of the schema dia

First counterexample that comes to mind, you're traveling to a country for one reason or another, and it'd be helpful to learn or know more of the language. The faster you learn, the more helpful it'll be. Another example, yo

Sorry I'm a bit confused. I'm in agreement that a natural key shouldn't be used as the primary key for a record. I was responding to a comment about having a hidden "database ID" (which I interpreted as being a seri

Oh that all sounds super neat! My current workflow is to drop almost everything into my daily notes, whether time-based, time independent, or reference. The non-time-based notes I'll #tag and logseq will create a new page for the tag o

So you've got a database ID, either serial or uuid? And you encrypt it when you send it to the user, maybe encrypted against their JWT or something to maintain stateless sessions? And I guess if the user references specific resources b

Idk that reeks of security through obscurity to me. Your authorization/permission scheme has got to be fubar'd if you're relying on obscuring IDs to prevent someone from accessing a resource they shouldn't. I'm sure

Another way to see it is that physical $100 has $300 of value. But eventually, Alice wants her money back, the bank cashes in the bond, the government repays the cash. So part of that value is the value of trust as a function of time. Trust
