You can use it today with containers in Lambda or a custom Lambda runtime, but both approaches have embarrassingly slow cold start. Lambda has special optimizations for Node which are not possible without official support. I have no idea wh

(I work on Bun) A neat thing about tail calls in JavaScriptCore: there’s an explicit bytecode intrinsic for it. return @tailCallForwardArguments(MyConstructor, this); To use this in Bun, you’d have to start Bun with the environment

One of the optimizations we do in Bun.build() is to automatically rewrite imports/requires of CommonJS modules shaped like this if (process.env.NODE_ENV === "development") { module.exports = require("./a

I work on Bun Fastify is not fast in Bun. Bun.serve() is 3x - 4x faster. Our node:http code currently just wraps Bun.serve(). node:http has to go through many extra string -> buffer conversions and microticks and does a lot of unnecessar

What issues are you running into? We added support for setRawMode in Bun v0.8 (a month ago) and that addressed many issues with stdin and readline.

That throws since we cannot make it synchronous. It works by reading the internal state of the Promise and getting the value out of it if the Promise is fulfilled.

This might work now. It didn't in v0.5.x and earlier. We added proper CommonJS support and that means sloppy-mode features that Node-RED relies on should work just fine.

In Bun, you can use import and require in the same file. There's three steps for what makes this work: 1) We patched JavaScriptCore to load ES Modules synchronously when they don't use top-level await. The main tradeoff here is th

Bun uses Zig’s standard library carefully. We read the code for the parts we use (and sometimes change it locally). We also rely on mature C/C++ libraries like picohttpparser, BoringSSL, c-ares (along with the C std lib). We use lots o

The honest answer is: don't know yet, but if it doesn't happen in 1.0, it will be the priority for 1.1. I'm going to do some experiments in the next few days and see how it goes. Roughly, the way we're thinking of adding
