This sounds like a dismissal based on a personal anecdote, rather than knowledge of what can be (and increasingly is!) done in a school. Many working in education have encouraged more interactive and project-based learning, such as PLTW[1]

Sure, the subject matter is in the textbook, but that's not necessarily the only thing being taught—research skills (source evaluation, comparison, synthesis, etc.) also need to (or should) be taught at some point. And teaching materi

In response to both comments: I turned on "Allow antivirus clients to quarantine individual incoming messages" and then added an exception for the folder where Thunderbird is keeping my mail, and it's now noticeably snappier—

The folder it's installed in, or the folder it keeps my mail in? Or both? (Also: what is the realistic security impact of this? As long as I don't do anything stupid, is it negligible?)

On Android, hold the power button* until the power down menu comes up, then press "lockdown". * This may vary by phone, but I'm not sure.

As someone studying education... you're right, but you're also kind of a prick. Actually, let me rephrase. It's a bad situation all-round. I assume you didn't tell your friend's kid to go in and argue with her tea

I suppose that's also part of it, I was meaning more that the cost is more worth it for a video being served a million times vs. a few hundred times.

My (not super informed) understanding is that it may also depend on how popular the video is - the increase in encoding time is less worth it if there are few people seeing quality or bandwidth benefits (depending on how they tune it).

I use a nice little Firefox extension (might also be available for Chrome) called TabList - it's about 20 lines of code and works great.

I can't find a way to create one - so if Windows allows that, it's begrudgingly at best. You can put `..` earlier in the file name, though.

I agree that the original source is probably better and that permission and attribution would be the best thing for Aeon to do (particularly as a sizeable publication), however he did intentionally publish it as CC0. I suppose things like t

A (hopefully) intriguing tangent: at the linked https://bench.nickb.dev/ , a 10x increase in iterations on the allocation benchmark results in a change from 28ms to 280ms in Firefox but 44ms to 2800ms in Edge.

Dev edition is the same as beta, except occasionally (not often, as far as I can tell) some features in development are enabled slightly earlier. In other words: it's beta but with different branding.
