I've submitted threads like this to the google webmaster forum, and standard response boils down to: - negative seo doesn't work, google can tell the difference between spam links/sites - it's probably an issue with your

I mean the !g bang - DDG has the option of getting results from Google and Bing. Bing offers an API for $6/10000 queries, but Google does not - I'm curious how they have access to Google search results.

how does ddg get its google results? Last I checked the api is gone. If I wanted to do the same thing as ddg, is it still possible?

Have you tried batch inference on the GPU? In my experience it increases throughput by an order of magnitude.

Not sure if everyone feels this way, but I kind of hate "software engineering". I feel like once the logic or core principle is figured out, the rest is just the chore of implementation. It's like the fun part is visualizing

AWS gpu compute is extremely expensive. If this is due to datacenter licensing costs, I hope they come out with their own hardware soon to reduce these costs. If on the otherhand, it's because their value-add is not in renting out the

current generation "VR" is pretty underwhelming imo - it's literally a 3d movie attached to your face, providing parallax but not depth of field. There are things like magic leap that have 2 focal planes, but I don't kno

isn't that just a limitation of the current incarnation of serverless systems? ie. serverless is only effective for burst traffic because it's expensive. You would think that after you tailor the code to the platform and make it

didn't know about Cascade Lake, thanks! Every time I did the numbers it didn't add up for cloud GPU. I could buy a new gaming desktop, serve the model from that, and make my money back in 2-3 months

the really obvious idea is lunar tourism. "literally the experience of a lifetime! see the Neil Armstrong footprint, eagle lander and more. Bring home lunar rocks as suveniers" then you'll have demand for all the other parts

I'm not an expert, but after playing with some pre-trained transformers I think they are mostly good at the exact thing they're trained for. eg. GPT-2 is great for text generation, but if you try to use it for say translation, it

Why not just look for a new job immediately? I've never done this myself, but as I understand it the fastest way to rise through the ranks as an SWE is to jump to a different FAANG every 3 years or so with a raise and promotion. I thin

if it's just crud, a bootstrap ui kit can make things easy. Copy/paste the HTML, add some interactivity and you're done. I actually can design but still use UI kits because it's so much faster.

I use VPSdime to serve a fasttext model. Low end VPS providers could be flaky, but honestly at 1/5 the price I can just buy from a few different providers and have better redundancy. ($7 6gb vs $40 8gb at linode) I do host my main appl
