Agreed. I find Waze has more aggressive rerouting. Maps tends to stick to simple navs at the expensive of a few minutes. Waze will zig-zag me around town. I do find both apps make my phone hot and gulp battery though.

The unlocked phones I've used can be put into auto mode (strongest signal, I guess?) or preference mode. Carrier locked phones do not switch to other providers unless there's no service. Then it'll switch over to another carr
