Ah the vocal minority. As Henry Ford said, "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses". Don't let a few troglodytes stand in the way of progress. Look at your analytics for approval/disap

If you want to write modules for Drupal/Joomla, they are written in PHP, which is similar to C. Ruby on Rails is known for being easy-to-use. You should learn Javascript no matter what server side language you choose. Python is a good

I think the BIG is an interesting idea, but I'd like to see some hard evidence that it works before we implemented something this large nationwide. The government should do a controlled test. You could go somewhere like India, randomly

Does anyone have any examples of areas where neural networks beat out statistical based methods, other than maybe image recognition? I can't even think of another major area where they dominate. - Search engines use algorithms, not neu

They will manually remove sites for spam in their own search engine, but they don't ban the associated Adsense account. In other words, they are more than happy to pay you to spam other search engines.

You've been drinking the Google kool-aid. Google has always been the primary financier of web spam on the Internet. They knowingly profit from Adsense on spam sites. If they wanted to, they could end web-spam over night by banning Adse

Why do you think paid search campaigns don't need more detailed data? Why do you seem to think SEOs shouldn't get data?

Patents are a legal monopoly. To say a company has a monopoly just means that it is extremely difficult to compete. In search, the market naturally created a monopoly. Not only does google have twice the market share of anyone else, they li

It's hard to think of what the lurking variable could be here if you want to make the argument that this is purely correlation and not causation. With Facebook likes, that could also indicate overall traffic levels or other popularity-

It still seems like ET3 has a much better design. It's simpler, more efficient, faster, and has fewer moving parts (that can break). The only down-side would be the 6% royalty you'd have to pay. As far as proposed routes, train st

You can create a chaotic map with a simple formula, but those don't appear often in the real world. Give me the formula for the weather, or to predict the next earthquake, or to model turbulence. If the stock market movements were norm

Yes, you can predict the amount of randomness in a normally distributed system. If you could not, standard deviations would have no meaning, and all branches of statistics built thereon would be false. In chaos theory, the best you can hope

You missed the whole point. Randomness exists in both normal and chaotic systems. The difference is that in normally distributed systems, randomness can be predicted.

The basic problem with economics is mathematical. Economists keep acting like the economy is normally distributed when it is not. For example, the "Black Scholes Model", assumed that the system was normally distributed, differenti
