The general idea is that the graph is of your inbox size, so a reduction in quantity (decreasing slope) would represent a "better" inbox situation. How might you suggest providing that context while keeping the ensuing image light

Unfortunately, Google doesn't make it possible to get a count of your inbox size, as far as I know, without requesting full permissions :(

Agreed. In my projects that have scaled, we've built a Sinatra API for internal use, and had a front-end (Rails, now moving to Backbone.js) query that API.

RabbitMQ (or any AMQP broker) sounds like it would do the job, since it sounds like you need to send very little data (a URL) to the background worker. I believe that there are some good AMQP/Rabbit gems for Ruby, but I'm a little dated on

Shoot me an email when you get the chance (in profile). I started young, too, and while I'm certainly not "prodigy-aged" at this point, I rather enjoy conversing about being a young programmer :)

I'm working on a rather large and (in my opinion) unwieldy C#-based project right now that....well....tries. However, when your stack is at a point where a Google Wiki isn't enough to document it adequately, there's an underlying problem, n

I actually feel like your event (NYTimes Hackday in December) was pretty good along those lines; I didn't get the feeling that any of the applications had a significant amount of pre-writing code-wise.

Were you at the NYTimes Open Hackday? My teammate and I flew in from Michigan (to be fair, I'm originally from the Tri-State area) to participate, and we damn well weren't just there for networking. That having been said, the networking is

If you are on a Mac, I would look into Adium [1]. It provides the multi-service functionality that you're looking for, which is probably the hardest part of the entire operation. Persistent logging and the ability to synchronize your edits
