Ignoring the joy of writing software with much more powerful abstractions for a moment (Python, Ruby, JS, PHP all look like jalopies now compared to Haskell) out has very real industrial benefits: Write software faster with fewer bugs, easi

Well, you could build a process supervisor that runs in its own forked resource (I'm sure, I don't know the language too well) - we have that in Haskell too (you can see similar code in the Cloud Haskell project where you give a s

Not much to compare it to there. Rust's type system is much more advanced which is a big win and it is lower level but Erlang's model of reliability is based heavily on the BEAMVM. Rust has a good concurrency model but I doubt i

You are confusing "chaining" with "composition". The two have fundamental differences. This confusion is understandable though because languages without a strong type system make true composition very loose (the excep

And you know, that's totally fair. I'm not a mathematician so my perspective is limited only to producing production software. I'm simply relating my own experience in the hope that people will stop judging Haskell as a "

Idris is a wonderful language but the tooling there is even more immature for numerical computing than Haskell.
