It’s still my goto, but there’s a ton a new bike tech that’s come about since, e-shifters, disc brakes, bottom bracket standards. Things keep changing…

I mean, sure Facebook has its bad points, but anyone who thinks that this is true clearly has no idea how hard it was to stay connected to so many people pre-Facebook. And keeping up on those connections really does have value.

Im from US, and we always had a vegetable garden growing up. Names were much the same from my point of view. Gourds were mostly hard and ornamental, squash is an edible gourd, and they weren’t really too much of a thing until the internet

Agree on the assessment of spaghetti squash. One of my favorites is delicata squash, sliced and baked with a lil oil & salt.

This is 100% the reason I have an iPhone. I can usually eek out 5 yrs on an iphone before it’s taken one too many falls. Which has also been why any iPhone of mine has died, no other reason than I fumbled it around with no case on it….

I’ll blame private equity. Made in U.S.A. brand gets bought by PE that uses a pile of debt. Then they just dump all that debt on the company, and no shit, “we can’t afford to make things in the USA anymore”, because we loaded up the bran

My large state school had a computer science degree, and a computer engineering degree. The latter being much more mathematically rigorous, and in the college of engineering, not college of science (and sort of adjacent to an electrical en

yeah, but the extra features don't cost extra money for the manufacturer. For example, BMW sells a subscription for heated seats. But... EVERY BMW has the hardwere in place, seat heaters and everything installed on the car, even if y

I kinda disagree. There's clearly a cap, where you can't spend anymore to get any better/more powerful cards. At competitive levels, it really doesn't matter. Every kid that plays hockey needs $500+ in gear, but you w

You might not be able to get the exact strap, but there are certainly numerous aftermarket straps (from low to high end) you can easily get. The strap is more than likely held in by a spring bar, and the while there are various widths, t

I had a co worker with a 6 cylinder Honda Valkyrie. I don’t believe it’s possible for a bike (or maybe even a car) to have a better sound: https://youtu.be/eoo5f7FkuDU

My grandparents always swear by using "brown soap" if you think you've been exposed to poison ivy. aka Fels-Naptha. It's a pretty strong soap, but I don't think it contains naphtha anymore.

Yeah there’s no denying that it definitely helps that electricity is a good bit cheaper in the US, making gas v. Heat pump heat pretty much on par in the northeast at least.

It’s been economical for 30+ yrs for Germanys climate, they just have older housing that’s never been updated. Every heat pump has backup source of heat too. Which will be electric coils or gas usually, so you don’t even have to give up g

That seemed to be the feel in 2008 as well. Lots of companies that were fine choose to have layoffs just because they “saw” a rough economy ahead. Self fulfilling prophecy, or just trimming the fat…?
