I followed the one author's blog link: https://nerdy.dev/ It says he enjoys 'minimalism'. I keep seeing this from UX people with these baroque monster websites, is that just a meaningless buzzword now?

> store greeters This must have been Walmart. I always figured they had greeters because the small town Protestant church from my childhood had greeters.

Hold on, I need to go find a very smart-looking book to be holding now just in case I die laughing at buttplug.loans

What am I supposed to tell my kids when I wake them up laughing at this? Where do I even start? I'd have to put the movie on and hope they fell asleep.

This is a case where the right TLD makes all the difference. If it were .biz, no one in their right mind is going to click that. Org must have already been taken.

Thanks. A google search for "white shoe fixer" was only returning glue and polish for shoes. Given the derogatory Ivy League sense of the term, it's a funny one for the author to use. Keefe attended Columbia, Cambridge, Londo

What is a 'white-shoe fixer'? I've never heard this term before and it sounds strangely racially charged.

> obviously the problem could be immediately "solved" with rm -rf .git && git init, but... No buts about it. This is the way to go. That commit history is mostly junk. Its value is extremely limited and it's hangin

On the flip side of that, I doubt OP wants to work for someone who doesn't have the time or the inclination to put serious consideration into something novel.

It also needs to learn to parse other threads for facts and reply with more than just a keyword definition. This is ELIZA-level bot programming.

If this account is really going to invoke the celestial teapot as a defense against accepting that there are ex-cons who want to have a normal life, its handlers should shut it down and retrain the algorithm.

We're all capable of it. Humans are hairless apes with neither claws nor tusks who spend more time in helpless, bawling infancy than any other animal. Yet somehow we survived among literal monsters in prehistory. If we are not prey...?

This is what's becoming worrisome to me. It would be horrible to lose so many of our elders. But is that as bad as wrecking our young? Someone from LessWrong needs to step in and run the cold-hearted utilitarian calculus on this.

I hear Adm. Rickover fixed a whole toothpaste factory once with nothing but grit and an $8 electric fan. Hoo boy he made those expensive college boy consultants look like they just fell off the turnip truck.

As long they are buried in an airtight vault or have their remains launched into deep space it should be fine. Though cremation is an option as long if the family agrees to huff the fumes. That's recycling!
