There are quite a few "boot to basic" comments here, but one of the things I think they are missing when suggestions like "you can just have rpi start X,Y,Z at boot" or "use W,R,S in your browser" come is that

Swedish public service TV is the same. Guess all the 1-hour shows are down to 27 minutes of content or so, leaving huge gaps needing to be filled with some .. air.

I have no idea on how many other OSes do this, but at least OpenBSD will use idle time to pre-clear memory pages that have been returned to the OS, so that when the next process has them mapped, it doesn't have to zero-fill-on-demand a

IBM does that, some ANS4543 code that is the real error, _then_ a possibly translated-to-your-language error sentence that tries to help you, but if it isn't enough, you google for the error code and can potentially find help regardles

I think 'tomes' is where it's at these days. An operating system covers quite a lot these days so a short book would either skip a lot of topics or be very shallow in the specifics and the specifics is very much at the core o

I think there's only a part of ARC that was patented so if you ran the lists differently, you could basically use the double-list idea where you move entities back and forth between them as long as the lists aren't of the same kin

Yeah, I think that GNewSense is debian based, so its "only" a matter of pointing the apt-sources to anything debian-like that has any non-free stuff and type "apt-get install nonfree" and you are out of their favor. Whi

I wonder what sshd could turn to in order to get entropy if the system doesn't think it has enough?
23. 263.▲

There is no reason not to try it, but you would still want to cater for the initial boot when you have no previous entropy to read.
