But now they're in control of a hardware vendor - one in a position to allow them to close off WP8 to other OEMs, and potentially a future version of Windows.

3 walled gardens is a very, very bad thing. Couple this with what Google's doing with the new Play Services and Motorola and with what Apple's been doing the entire time, and we could be in for a world of hurt when there are no &q

And now Microsoft has a hardware division. I can easily see most hardware vendors being ousted by the trio of Google/MS/Apple - all of whom now either make or have been making their own hardware to go along with their software. A

There's absolutely no incentive MS can offer any of the named people to work for them. So I'm not sure if you're joking, or...?

Thankfully the recommended uberman is 6x20-22 and dymaxion is 4x30, but there are no confirmed successful adaptations to it. Uberman is seriously difficult to adapt to, but Everyman-3 is a good compromise (several naps and a core)

I love how this article may be from 2000, but I didn't realize it until he mentioned CVS and checked the date. It's really awesome that a tech article can be brought back up 13 years later and still manage to be relevant.

So maybe it's time for a SQL database written in Haskell to take advantage of these new developments? (both Mio and Intel's HRC)

I would love for Rails to address keeping secrets/tokens out of source control by default - so every project can do it easily in the same way

Oh, that totally skipped my mind. Maybe run something to recognize URLs (replace with $URL, or some kind of placeholder), and then try to obfuscate filenames and the like in a similar way? By normalizing the data like this, you could get m

It'd be awesome to see a dump of the data so that we can examine it on our own - many people may think of ways to use it that you haven't, or draw different conclusions from it. :D

This is by far the best performing web app I've ever used, nothing comes remotely close - it really and truly is amazing. Huge congrats to the creator of this.

Great point, but the government seems to be hell-bent on making this impossible through laws like HIPAA, so while it may indeed be possible to make, the government is going to fight against you every single step of the way.

This is absolutely amazing! However, it reminds me a lot more of the early versions of - http://pixologic.com/sculptris/ - than it does of ZBrush.

Docker runs on linux only because it uses LXC/cgroups/AUFS, all of which are unique to Linux. FreeBSD Jails and Solaris Zones have the same core concepts that docker uses.

I just ordered one. Impulse buy on my part - but with a SDK + support for multiple devices, I have high hopes for it. Looks really awesome, and it'll probably land up being pretty hackable. :D

But the best thing about docker is that it's not a VM. It's a containerization layer built on some linux kernel (only) features. It's not fair to compare it to a VM, or even to put it in the same class of programs.

And then if you had an idea on how to improve the music, it would just be a nice fork-edit-pull request away from improving the album. Truly collaborative music could be really cool.

I've never felt that Firefox feels "sluggish", at least not since version 20. I've been running Aurora (24a2) for a while now, and it feels quite snappy - not Sublime Text 3 like, but far better IMO than Chrome/IE10
