The awesome thing about Framework is that it is even possible to upgrade the main board without trashing the entire machine. Purchasers of the 11th gen system should still very much reap the benefits of the Framework ecosystem. Being abl

The primary thought I have regarding pricing at grocery stores is, "Man, Safeway has these apples on sale for half the price they're selling for at QFC. I sure wish I could buy apples at Safeway and sell them to QFC." Unfortu

No -- it means that a single instance of illegal activity can potentially be charged-back by a government through a web of otherwise-legal transactions at any time. The immutable historical retention of all transactions has at least the c

One can readily argue that it is simultaneously the most-important part to decentralize. Identity and personal-network are essential to a person's function in modern society.

Yes, but that is after they seize it. If a criminal steals my bitcoin and spends it, everyone who accepts it and everyone who accepts it from them is taking delivery of stolen property, trivially traceable back to me. I'll want it back

The potential value-density of crypto is unmatched, but I'm not sure it is "easy" to store in a manner like that. If another resident of Zhong's household had discarded the popcorn tin, he could have been out $1B. It

That was the value at the time of seizure, which is most-likely the correct time at which to value it. It is true that the news would probably use the larger number if BTC had gone up in price since then, but I suspect that the official sta

With a public blockchain, it seems at least technically possible to seize any funds that were used in a transaction later shown to be illegal. If you thought KYC constraints were invasive today...

Centralizing the decentralized... what's old is new again? Seems like the centralization of relationships and credentials ought to be client-side, or a portable protocol all its own, so we don't repeat the mistake of centralizing

If we're being pedantic, the "2k Km" is simply incorrect. See 6.1.5 here: https://www.nist.gov/pml/special-publication-811/nist-guide-... If it were Kelvin-meters, it would either be written "K

I think GP's comment about reach runs in the other direction: If someone tweets about an issue, it is trivially discovered globally and readily embedded on news sites with arbitrary volumes of traffic (or shown on TV). Is the same true

Yes, but if you don't have lead infrastructure in your water system, it is extremely difficult to have lead come out of your tap. If you do have lead pipes, however, it only takes a shift in pH to pull the lead into solution.

The risk is very small for email when you own your own domain. One can switch "instances" at will with just a DNS update.
