Red Hat, I am very disappointed. We're all ISO27001 everywhere, separation of data, and separation of network resources. But you keep our data in your github repo?

It's kinda romantic to think that innovation in those days likely came from the industrial sites. Maybe it was perfected later by an aristocrat, but it was more likely to be discovered by the ones who had ready access to smelters and w

It changes with age too. Like the first question I was presented with was 1. Take time for self-care, 2. Get straight to breakfast and work prep. Yeah in my 20s, and early 30s, I could eat breakfast while logging onto the computer and start

Or the nylon craze? I know it's an uphill battle but we can at least move in the right direction. Or do you suggest we just give up?

Even if a plastic bag ends up in the proper recycling, along its way every single wrinkle and crease has spread microplastics. I know it's an uphill battle but we don't have to make it worse.

I agree that AT aims high, maybe a little too high. To me Fediverse is basically all the forums we had in the 90s and 00s, but now they can talk to each other. So with that said, I am principally against huge instances like mastodon.social

It sounds like the AT protocol is improving in the right direction, but the numbers still say it's highly centralized and therefore closed social media owned by one monolithic entity. AP has its issues, namely not being at all consiste

This has already been covered many times but the design of the AT protocol requires a lot more resources than AP. Meaning it will be reserved for large organizations, while AP has a lower entry of threshold. I want both to thrive, but I pre

My mom got straight up malware from Google ads years ago. And just last month she got scammed from a facebook ad. They clearly have no control over what or who is using their platforms.

My first result is midjourney.com. I so often see people criticizing Google search but I never see the negative with my own eyes. Whenever I search I get what I want or need. Google Search must be highly personalized, and I don't know

I agree with you. Steamdeck is amazing but people are often over-enthusiastic about what a handheld device can do. The most comfortable and consistent gaming experience is still a regular stationary PC. But if you really want to play Civ5 o

Iran has been under sanctions for a long time. I remember working for unnamed US server manufacturer back in 09 and we had a list of countries by our desks to remember if anyone ever called in from there, or even mentioned working there dur

Because it's too unpredictable so far. AI saves me time, but only because I could do everything it attempts to do myself. It's wrong maybe 40-50% of the time, so I can't even imagine the disasters I'm averting by recogni

It's not absurd. First of all I've been using immutable Linux for 3 years so running Irssi in a container makes the most sense. Of course I'd probably just run it inside a distrobox container instead. And also I've been

Yes but it's off by default for a reason, it's not realistic to expect every node to fetch all messages. This is a catch 22 because the reason fedi is more decentralized is because of the low barrier of entry to run a node, but at

We're more decentralized in fedi but we're also not really consistent either. Which I think is the number one gripe for users who manage to get into the fedi. I don't mind, I still think it's a huge leap forward, but it&
