You're kidding right? I mean let's ignore the plunder of a fully inhabited continent since it was done long before the US existed. And of course let's ignore Hawaii. Who owns the Panama canal? It's not even on US soil. W

We as a society need to adapt to this new wave of influence on kids. I think it goes without saying in this forum that if we try to ban children from using social media they will simply make their own. Any ban will only drive them into usin

Maybe I'm crazy here but I think it would be better to have a recycling process for earbuds than trying to develop ones with replaceable batteries. It just seems like a lot of overhead for something nobody is going to use in practice.

I used Gnome for years, then switched to sway and alacritty 2 years ago and honestly I can't tell any difference. I guess this is just like high end audio equipment, my ears/eyes are not tuned to the difference.

This is what I do with my homelab too. My gateway is called sol, everything else orbits around it. Furthest out is an Intel NUC at a relatives place with Wireguard access called Pluto. But more importantly, since a HN post about an RFC defi

Given enough time and local testing they could have gotten away with it. I'm positive their deadline changed due to @teknoraver's patch in libsystemd.

That is such an insane headline. You might as well say "we saved 100% of cloud costs by writing our own cloud".

Not a project, and a second hand story that I'm sure a lot of people can recognize. But I knew a sysadmin at a large european educational institution whose only job it was to hit up-arrow and enter a few times a day when a server crash

It's getting harder and harder to be anonymous on reddit. I used to rotate my accounts every year but now they keep shadowbanning me. So I had to jump through some hoops, and while one VPN was indeed instantly network blocked, another

I don't think surviving for 90 years is the problem, the challenge would be surviving for the next 10 years. Or if we're being optimistic and poetic, another 90 years.

Funny but my first thought wasn't wasting their time at all, that's easily fixed with a few code adjustments on their client end. My thought was to harvest their IPs and publish them in blocklists.

I haven't done it yet, just been fantasizing about it. Should be very possible though, Rundeck has Ansible integration and with Ansible playbooks you do anything. So all your custom website has to do is provide buttons for those pre-de

I'm interpreting it more like this is a standalone locally managed program, the user would like a screenshot feature in it. But if you add remote management around it then this screenshot feature can be invasive, but then again so is t

That would make it centrally managed. Unless the user can override this configuration, we're talking about remote administration. Either through this tool, or through some other tool that deploys it and ensures the user cannot change i

Yeah I noticed that, which is why I'm confused about this screenshot feature being invasive. Unless it's remotely managed, it would only be screenshots taken by you, and stored by you, in your time tracker.

So is this like a remote administration tool then? Since I'm assuming you'd want to trigger the screenshot remotely from a central server that manages kimai clients.
