Still though it kinda proves my point. What's the quickest path to a usable phone? Quite a bit of work on top of AOSP, or even more work ontop of Linux?

Why not use the open source Android? I just feel like it would be more mature. And yes I like many others here have been trying Linux phones for 10+ years, since N900. Your phone just has to work, it can't crash because you get a call,

They need to make a miniature version that I can attach to my headphones because that is my busy indicator. If I'm at work and need to focus, noise cancelling headphones are a must. If they're off then I'm not busy.

It's the standard antithesis of instant gratification culture. We had to actually wait for things to happen, to download, to render, to dial. Finding something online was a journey and it's often the journey that teaches you more

I've thought about this too but I think the type of business best suited to execute this is a law firm, or you know, the normal executor of people's wills. They just need the IT bit.

I did something similar years ago when I was working with observability. Prometheus alertmanager triggers a special alert constantly that calls a lambda (or any webhook), so when alertmanager dies or is unable to alert then the lambda will

Well, in real life this setup uses Gitlab but I referenced Github because I assumed they have better WYSIWYG options than Gitlab. And why that matters is because I can run the pipeline from my own laptop with gitlab-runner. But we all have

My definition of minimalistic is a SSG where you use Github's WYSIWYG editor and push changes to trigger a pipeline that rebuilds the page and uploads it to a cloud service with S3 support.

That's funny, I code a lot of python but I don't participate in any large projects where a pipeline might fail due to this. So I don't follow the PEP news much. And yet I have created my own habit of not using bare excepts. T

This is exactly what I use Firefox Send for in my org. It's not strictly "admin can download" but anyone with the password/link can download. The effect is the same.

Can't you just run k8s on bsd? You might have to build and maintain your own release of it, but I'm sure someone has done it already.

That's not how it ends up happening in practice. The bigger and richer you are the more access you have to legal resources that can twist and bend the system to your will. My former socialist home of Sweden has a richer culture of per-

A popular villain is all big businesses. I'm not at all interested in which company highlights this practice, because they're all either doing it or want to do it. This is a disagreement between two fundamental philosophies, one t

It's a complete disregard of a nation's heritage. Even if Egyptians were less focused on their legacy in the 19th century, they are today and have the means to preserve it now. To be semantic it's not plundering, even slaves

Then it's a crime committed by the government. I personally don't understand people making excuses for this type of behavior. It doesn't matter if it's Amazon, Google, or the UK government, it is hypocrisy.

How is the GnuCash DB any different from using an Access DB? For simplified bookkeeping GnuCash, and most generalized bookkeeping programs, is overkill. I accomplish the same thing with 250 lines of Python, and the result is that I get exac

Ostree might be replaced by bootc eventually. According to a talk at Flock this year. I'm glad Debian didn't use ostree because it's nice to have more than one implementation of immutable container based distros.
