It is newsworthly for a number of reasons. Firstly, most people do not know that companies are scanning their customers, suppliers and employees against these Watchlists. Secondly, people are placed on these watchlists with no burden of pro

How do people attend and not receive a degree? Are they implying people have dropped out or is there some kind of course which doesn't result in a degree certificate?

The question is whether their subscription model can make up for the fall in revenue from sales and adverts. Last year their revenues grew by just 1% and they managed to half their losses by cutting costs. Whether they can cut another £20m

Clearly this article is only referring to Corporation Tax (a tax on profits). Amazon and Starbucks will both pay business rates and employer's National Insurance among other taxes. Amazon and Starbucks also create value for their share

What I can't get my head around is how they managed to add their code to the .js file. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the file was hosted by BA within their CMS, yet the attackers were able to update this file to include their 22 li

Won't the "link tax" simply result in new services publishing an open licence, similar to GNU? It does seem like an open goal for the likes of Google, Facebook and Twitter, as I can't see news sites wanting to risk losin

I agree. The article skims over the consistencies in the way data is recorded in the two tools. My experience is that Google Analytics is much more sophisticated, whereas tools which query server logs are more "as is".

If we had fewer coffee shops, it would simply mean we have fewer shops. I don't know what your local town centre is like, but mine would be a ghost town if the chain coffee shops backed up and went home.

Does everyone in the US have to file their own tax return? In Britain, what's called self-assessment is relative rare, with only about 10m people having to file returns. Everyone else is on something called PAYE (Pay As You Earn).
