I think Dario Amodei, for all of his intelligence, believes the hype and is experiencing full-on AI delusions. His recent interviews and writings have taken on a distinctly religious tone (as have other tech leaders like Peter Thiel), which

The market is forward looking. If you short when it's obvious to everyone, it will already be at the bottom. Clearly, shorting now or a few months ago would have been the correct move. The market has predicted that their outsized quart

That’s a pretty weird take considering they’re down 21% in the last 2 months. How, exactly, is this early?

True vibe coding (as in, using an LLM to write software end to end without understanding what's going on under the hood) just doesn't work in the long term, so it will likely stop itself. No one who's serious creates software

Isn't the answer to this obvious? Because you, I, and anyone else who isn't working for a big AI company cannot disable the guardrails, which is what made this possible. It doesn't mean old models weren't capable of it.

Yes. It is. And your theory is that there was no conspiracy. What makes yours more likely than mine? You believe the people running these companies are innately good and just wouldn't do that? Are we supposed to assume that they'r

Oh cool - a bunch of generic marketing copy written by an AI and presented as an article. It's concerning that something this low quality has made it to the front page.

Of course that's what they did, which is why they will never share the prompt. They created a situation that they knew would end in a cybersecurity incident. Why is the whole world acting surprised that an LLM can hack when the safety

They didn't fabricate it. They took off the security guardrails and told it to do some hacking, and they got the exact news-worthy story they wanted when it did exactly that. Everyone acts surprised. They should release the full prompt

I get the feeling he really wants the AI hype to be true and he's acting in ways that engage his confirmation bias.

Yeah it's definitely some kind of delusion/gullibility exploit (probably mixed with having too much money). The guy isn't dumb, but he is obsessed with solving every problem with AI.

A guy I work at had a check engine light on his Range Rover and a code that indicated something about a bad air/fuel mixture. He consulted ChatGPT and over the next 3 months, proceeded to spend over $15,000 trying to fix the car, as GP

If the output of an LLM can be influenced by the highest bidders, it’s no longer useful to me.

Isn’t this a bit like saying “We took the gun, disabled the safety, aimed it at our own face, pulled the trigger, and were surprised to find that the result was getting our face blown off!”? They disabled the guardrails on the model and tol

Same here. I flip flop between them. Most people I know who have access to both, technical or not, are doing the same. They’re just too close and sometimes one does what you want better than the other.

Clearing LLMs out of our business infrastructure is going to be a massive undertaking. Though I have a tech background, I work in commercial real estate. We are recently seeing new levels of idiocy from the employees, including real estate

I get it - you're a kratom addict looking for validation. My post started with "My opinion is", and it was not edited or changed at any time. Kratom does have a severe negative effect on memory, BTW.

Most leaf you buy from leaf vendors is fermented to some degree in the country of origin. My point stands - Feel Free does not contain extracts. The difference you may notice is more likely from the addition of Kava root, which is a gabaerg

This doesn't ban Feel Free and similar products because they don't contain 7-OH. They just contain powdered Kratom leaf.

Kratom is a leaf that is primarily farmed in Asia which contains the active ingredient Mitragynine, which has some very mild partial-agonist opioid effects. When kratom is consumed, your liver converts a very small amount to a MUCH more pot

My opinion is that long term daily kratom use is terrible for your health, but it doesn't carry an overdose risk so it should stay legal and the decision to use or not should be up to the user.

I don't usually agree with prohibition, but 7OH is the kind of drug that spirals into a self destructive addiction VERY quickly. Most opioids require using for a number of weeks before you start to develop enough physical dependence to

I think this is a possible future, but we are nowhere close with the current tech. It makes too many mistakes currently. I could envision a future where the hallucination and error rate is brought down to a very small number, but trusting y
