I'd imagine so, yeah. Like, I can't imagine what value French's gets out of running mustard advertisements as an example. Feels like some of these companies have entire marketing teams whose main job is to justify their own

I'm the IT guy to most of the elderly people in my life, and steadily switching them over to Linux Mint over the years. Fact of the matter is, most of them use their OS as a gateway to their web browser, and don't care to do anyt

> Trust isn’t something a brand builds with an ad campaign. It’s what’s left if the marketers don’t ruin it. So much this. Are ads still a measurably good investment for businesses? I'm assuming they wouldn't run them anymore

So maybe there should be better education for parents. Maybe there's other solutions. I can't accept that the nanny state parenting our children for us is the way to go. If people are being negligent of keeping their children s

I don't believe children should be on social media. Some other people might not share that belief. Should be up to parents to decide what's okay for their kids, not governments or companies. Age verification will always lead to

Yep, I'm past my days of wanting my OS to be "exciting" :) now boring and functional is king.

I wish my memory was better... but after reading that, I'm sure glad it's not that good. Really fascinating read, went quite well with my morning cup of coffee. :)

Pretty crazy that this is legal in a "modern-day democracy".

The US and Israel. Nothing about their approach here seems coordinated, they're both just doing whatever.

True. I guess the main point is the AI didn't go "rogue" or anything, that would attribute too much agency and intent to its actions, or imply that it's somehow become sentient.

No shot this was autonomously done. Probably just some guy manually writing prompts asking for specifically this behaviour and copy/pasting the results.

Is a moon base a practical or even useful thing to have? I mean, it sounds really cool, but what would be the benefits?

So purely so that China doesn't get the bragging rights? I guess I don't see the big deal but I'm sure it's more important than it seems on the surface.

Not a Mac user so I'm unfamiliar with this project, but a one-time $10 fee for a solo dev working on an open-source project that people talk about like it's a must-have for MacOS, who can be mad at that?

Forgive my ignorance, but why would China being the next on the moon be such a bad thing? Aren't moon missions mostly just "look what I can do!" sorts of things?

This has been my issue with DuckDuckGo from the start... it needs to be something a little more catchy and that rolls off the tongue. Saying "I'll DuckDuckGo it" feels so clunky. As small of a gripe as it sounds like, it r

What you're describing still requires that you look at sources and put a little bit of effort into understanding something. AI answers may or may not be completely hallucinated, and often the people copy/pasting them didn't e

I think in a way that makes sense, because so many people need to be reminded that AI isn't a person. People don't need a constant reminder that their screwdriver isn't sentient, but people seem to be regularly falling int
