If you somehow got Windows source code into your program, you couldn't distribute it without getting sued. If you liked FUD, you could say the Microsoft license (do not distribute without MS permission) has spread to your code. That's just

A few days ago, one of the top threads was "Crime in America keeps going down, yet the American public refuses to believe it" It's very much a human thing, getting shocked about relatively small but vivid tragedies.

Well there's nothing really special about the "next" part. It's just that you can't check the accuracy ("truth" is a dirty word, apparently) of your model against the data you used to construct it. It's why there's stuff like cross valida

I think two, maybe three are within reach of a programmer - secure cyberspace, personal learning, & scientific discovery. Anyway some problems might have relatively easy solutions. I'm reminded of the mosquito-laser article on slashdot

Tell that to the billions of religious people. I don't even know what I expected. Maybe something real, seeing as it was so high on HN.

It takes 10 seconds to unfollow, or 1 second to turn off buzz. I'd say it's just a convenient default for the rest of us..

It's not an all or nothing proposition. Standards aren't perfect, yes, & browsers aren't perfect either, but there are degrees to it. For example at this rate it'll be a decade before IE supports html5 video.

I don't disagree with the facts as stated. I'm just saying they would be relevant if webkit had 90% market share and somehow went back in time to fail acid3 and stopped releasing new versions and nobody forked it. Then you might be ab

I realize TFA is a troll, but the problem wasn't just that it was one platform. As I understand it, IE6 was at one time better than other browsers. The problem was it was a de-facto standard, MS stopped innovating, & it became increasin
