Besides testing, my team uses phantomjs to convert pages to PDF and also to convert javascript generated charts to images. This is sad news, I'm don't think chrome eventually will add support for.

trello can be used to any kind of project you have in mind, I have my reading list there for example which would be hard to replicate in jira. there are cases were you can use trello and jira for the same puporse and I agreed that in those

I rather recommend this book end to end by is a good to own it, when I use to compete in programming competitions from time to time there were interesting problems that have an algorithm explained in this book but not in others it is a goo

Real random numbers are useless because everything follow some distribution. Actually random generators in programming languages should be called pseudorandom to avoid confusions.

I suggest you participate in online programming competitions. For me it was more helpful than just read books.
