Why can't this just be reached by market pressure? In a free and open market, producers offering unpopular products should not be able to survive for long.

The reason people don't trust "fact checks" is because they are often created by people with an agenda. I myself have rarely ever seen a good and neutral "fact check".

Thanks for the link. Very interesting. Fortunately, Scott is wrong on this. Crypto does not only subvert old forms of coordination, it also allows new forms of coordination. Whether this will is a net win remains to be seen.

Economically, this is a nice illustration of “externalities”. Each individual’s choice negatively effects the outcome of the others. I wonder if the efficient outcome is restored again by allowing agents to pay each other to take a certain

IANAL, but all of this probably depends on a tiny detail: did Revlon instruct Citibank to pay the $176.2 million to Brigade Capital? (1) If the answer is yes, then this qualifies as a payment instruction. In a payment instruction, a bank se

It’s the large numbers. One of the Swiss Sunday newspapers has published the latest numbers today. Depending on the canton, foreigners are between 15% and 50% of the population. And among children below 6, the Swiss have become a minority i

I hate the fact the both Apple's App Store as well as Google's Play Store do not offer basic search filters. In particular for my kids, I'd love to be able to search for games without ads or in-app purchases. But Apple and Go

Not all glass is equal. There is a trade-off between being scratch-proof (harder glass) and shock-proof (softer). Apple seems to be particularly aggressive in going for the former. Also, Apple tends to sacrifice robustness for elegance. Bot

Why? They sold us a product claiming it is fit for a particular purpose and then it turned out this wasn’t true. A device that cannot withstand being dropped from minimal hight is not suitable for children. Period.

And I firmly believe that if a company sells you a product and claims that it is fit for a particular purpose, you should be able to get your money back if it turns out that this was not the case.

A very eye-opening event for me was when I visited Berlin in 2003 (?). We watched ZDF (government-financed German TV) news and saw a huge crowd protesting against Bush’s war in Iraq. Wanting to join them, we found a mostly empty square with
