Because they are known for having fast EVs. Having a team and losing would be a hit on their reputation, but having a team and winning wouldn't change much. So they have a lot to lose and little to gain.

For comparison I was paying €330 for a brand new 35 sqft apartment with 2 separate rooms, a small balcony, amazing heat and noise insulation, 5 minutes from a bus stop and ample parking, all in a nice area without very dense buildings. And

Tesla had a direct path to drop the price by using economies of scale. If you just can't grow a crop, it just won't work. This is more akin to saying that battery density is low enough that it only works up to scooters.
