I was reviewing a new open office layout with a CEO one day. I pointed out that my new desk was surrounded by people who smoke. I was not a smoker. The CEO ignored my comment and I had to sit there smelling the smoker stink of my coworkers.

All TikTok shows me is people doing stupid things or women shaking their boobs or butts. No political content as far as I can tell.

I would assume they attempt to monitor any communications to someone like Putin. It's not about Tucker. Why assume any communications to Russia are secure?

Typing speed matters in a coding interview. You get maybe 30 minutes to write a bunch of code and answer all the questions on the fly. The network connection and speed of your computer matters. Interviewing sucks.

It seems like companies are trying to combine multiple positions into one position. They're surprised they can't find that one person to do all these jobs at the same time. Invent new tech on a deadline while maintaining a legacy

Being a floater engineer was frustrating. Less experienced engineers were able to stay on projects and move into lead positions while I was moved around fixing their code. You eventually end up in a job review with a manager who is clueless

Every time you are on a camera you have to consider that the other party might be recording you. People judge everything. Every gesture, key press, backgrounds and background noise. Your job is now a reality TV show.

A job description might say C++ at the top but, it will be followed with a page of other requirements and weeks of interviews. They won't hire you unless you are already doing everything.

Companies only seem to move forward if you are doing exactly what they are doing exactly the same way they are doing it. They do not want to give you a chance to adapt your skills to the position. They will not give you feedback. They wil

They bug me about jobs that have nothing in-common with my background. They mention my "profile" but, whatever profile they are looking at is not mine and they won't tell me where it is.

There are also job descriptions that do not state whether it is a remote job or where on the planet you are expected to work. City, state, country? Anything? You go to their website and also no address or clue of where the company is.

You don't. Interviews suck now. Companies have destroyed the ability for regular people to get a regular job. I don't know who the hire now. I used to have no problem finding a job. Now nothing.

All my coding in the 80s was in assembly language. Interviews were more about low level hardware knowledge, not much about software algorithms. The way interviews are conducted now sucks.
