Ken does some pretty cool teardowns. However, you can, assuming you know where to look. If you're buying gas station knockoffs, of course they're a fire hazard. The problem is counterfeits are all labeled as one homogeneous group,

I only use specs because it's sometimes tricky to describe qualitative things in a way that's easy to compare quickly. I was wondering if the pen/stylus input method really was worth the money over a traditional touchpad+keyb

I recently purchased a new laptop, after looking through a bunch of options -- Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, etc. Ultimately, I settled on one from Xiaomi. For $720, I get an i5-6200U, 8gb of DDR4 RAM, 256gb SSD, 1gb dedicated graphics card,

A counterpoint -- For the price of one Anker lightning cable, I can have a dozen lightning cables shipped to me from China still in their original Foxconn bags. They will last just as long as the Apple cords, and are much, much cheaper. For

Not trying to de-legitimize the claim, but I couldn't find much about hospitals being unable to negotiate equipment prices. Do you have a source?

They hadn’t bothered to consider statistically far more likely causes of an irregular heartbeat. In Redelmeier’s experience, doctors did not think statistically. Statistics assumes independence, something that may be hard to come by

This is more a comment on TSLA than GM, but I still feel it's relevant given the competition between the two. I don't understand the Gigafactory, from a capital allocation point of view. Geographically, it's not near any majo

All it takes is for users to download the app and convince all their friends too. That's the tricky part, and definitely the incumbent advantage. I'm not sure x hours is enough of a pain point (if it is at all) to get people to

This is, what looks like, new-ish construction is small-town Michigan. Unless the builder was grossly negligent, it's likely to have a 100 or 200A amp service panel, and 15A circuit breakers (not fuses) distributed according to code. A

Says English is his second language -- maybe the connotation is different, and he didn't mean to be condescending in the slightest. Kind of like ELI5 -- not actually a five year old, but literally taken, it would sound fairly strange.

How is sight like enlight.ml made? How is it hosted, how do the pages come together, etc. That would make a great tutorial, even if it's at a high level.

Actually, for things with a non-conductive casing (think cheap nightlights, or those apple wall warts) there's no need for a ground. If anything, it's another part and more cost, thus it isn't included. In highly sensitive A&

It sounds a bit like pump and dump, which is considered fraud. However, instead of being against hundreds or thousands of individual investors, you're going against one (obstinately) accredited investor, so you might be one firmer lega

The chips, resistors, capacitors etc are all mostly functionally equivalent. The transistors, regulators ICs etc will all do what they're spec'd to do, at a basic level. Where it gets dicey are fringe cases, and on poorly controll

They're essentially using Peltier elements to cool the elements electronically. They're also using two elements stacked in series for a lower total temp. Thank god the CCD is small -- a Peltier unit, as a heat pump, is pretty inef

If you wanted to do this right, you'd match the impedance to the antennae impedance of a typical phone antennae. This gets around the square rule, sort of, and you won't need a suitcase full of batteries to power the thing.
