"Elaborate" is putting it kindly. It's just soulless, blunt PR copywriting. I'm surprised they got to the front-page with this tripe?

I stand corrected. It was my impression from multiple articles that fines would not be an immediate enforcement. However, as much as I would like them to get slapped around, I believe the likes of Facebook are too smart/nefarious to ac

I doubt they will get anything near the max penalty, if they get fined anything at all, since we're now in the 1-year grace period.

One more prestigious date to add to the 14-years long (and counting) "Zuckerberg Magic Apology Tour". Quite the show. (For reference: https://www.wired.com/story/why-zuckerberg-15-year-apology-t... )

If you google "Logitech mouse coil whine" you will see that this has affected multiple Logitech models for many, many years. They apparently have no interest in fixing this issue.

You are correct about HK (in fact I think the higher crime rate was much older that just the 80s and dated back to the 50s and mass emigration caused by the successive troubles in the mainland). I do think it's a great story, as it dem

There's no correlation: Singapore and HK have some of the highest population density in the world, and have a low crime rate. Checking the list of countries by density[1] and then by violent crimes[2] will confirm that. India is quite

I agree with the article but I can only note, once more, that it is from The Guardian, who did run multiple articles in support of no-platforming in universities. But look who comes crying about freedom of inquiry now, once said "erosi

Come on, The Guardian is not some Medium blog hoster. You can't say this being in their opinion section means it doesn't count. If you discounted everything tagged as opinion, their front page would have a whole lot of empty space

I would argue it's not about the extra characters, it's about enforcing explicit mutability. In Scala, where var/val both exist, each time you declare a variable you are forced to think about its mutability. But if you only h

You are correct, but I was speaking in terms of general-purpose programming, with an OSS/free implementation available, and to my knowledge all the other vendors only target the embedded and high-integrity spaces. And they cost money.
