Jensen Huang put it quite decently: "When Blackwell starts shipping in volume, you couldn't give Hoppers away." All of the current GPU investments are gonna hit zero, and probably a lot faster than the companies buying them r

I'd say they're less of "programs" as they are "six-month trials". What's the plan after six months? And for what's it worth, PyPy isn't even eligible for the Claude trial because they have a mea

For Python, 0.1 increases are major versions and 1.0 increases are cataclysmic shifts.

Not that surprising considering that James Hetfield has no qualms about his music being used for literal torture. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2008/jun/19/usa.guantanamo

It's a win-win situation. Either pirates win or Meta loses.

We consumers just need BiTorrent clients that come with LLM training code incorporated, as that transforms the downloads into fair use (according to the very expensive Meta legal team).

It would be in the public domain. Wouldn't really matter all that much if the end goal was to get it included in the Python standard library, but the whole "Copyright (c) 2024 Dan Blanchard" in the license file would just be

Thought the same thing. I think I measured my gaming PC to idle at like 70–100 watts. Obviously an average office PC would be lower, but you also need to add on the energy for the monitor, which seems to start at around 15 watts for some ba

I've tried to use a local LLM on an M4 Pro machine and it's quite painful. Not surprised that people into LLMs would pay for tokens instead of trying to force their poor MacBooks to do it.

07:40 still sounds pretty early when compared to 66 degrees where we could expect the civil twilight after 09:00 in December. You'd go to school at 08:00 in the dark and go home at 15:00, also in the dark.
