Well we have to learn not to lie to ourselves, one way or another.

Doing IPC with mpv with JSON, sockets and partially undocumented values is a bit of a pain. Not sure that you should care though.

In Australia, you can't advertise cigarettes, and cigarettes have to be sold in faded green packaging (without logos etc.) with only health warnings. You can only get cigarettes if you know which brands to ask for. That has prevented s

Time for Australia to become a republic? I wonder how people would vote if there were another referendum.

I'm Australian and I have never really had any interest in going to England. Australia is culturally downstream from America though, so you're right about that.

If the protesters weren't directly threatening the people in the car, I agree. It's becoming more and more obvious that laws are ineffective without a shared culture.

Unfortunately, that idea is never evenly applied.

You say there is no authority, yet you keep appealing to it. Who cares what is in vogue in philosophy? Just respond with an argument.

Don't you have to understand a culture before you understand where its laws fit? Doesn't a culture determine its laws?

The best thing about philosophy is you can just make an argument without appealing to authority.

Well you are clearly not a relativist. What else should we do to change their culture? Look at all the recent changes that have been imposed upon the Middle East by the West. How on earth can a Westerner claim moral superiority in that cont

BLM protesters attacked people in cars. What would you do if that happened to you?

Mozilla is following the herd too. I don't attack Firefox because it's not trendy, but because Mozilla is trying to be, and doesn't seem to know who its users are. As someone who used Firefox for 15 years, I stopped believing

Krita has those features. Sure it would probably be better if more people worked on Krita, but I'm often pleasantly surprised by the new features they implement.

Krita is great, but you can't print in it. GIMP is the only image program I have seen on Linux that shows a preview when printing, and it lets the user freely scale the image to get the desired size on paper.

Yeah. Since trying C, I've learnt a bit of Rust, so referencing and dereferencing seem straightforward without abstracting references using a pointer.
