You don’t need to be really good at cpp to write a crappy emulator. All the “really good” stuff is about eeking out performance. If you want to build an emulator start with a qt gui and go from there. By the time you’re done you’ll be good

You have to be looking for a job or employed to be part of the labor force count. Stay at home moms arent in the labor force, neither are students that dont want to work.

Theyll certainly go for something they believe is reliably mildly shitty, yea. LLM translation has largely solved the biggest issue machine translation had which was proper nouns. Its good enough for most business cases now

Most paid translation work is just businesses that want to cover their ass so they don’t get blamed for a wildly shitty Google Translate. LLM translation is good enough for that. They’re not looking for art.

The most sickening part of this is that it isn’t actually broken, it’s working exactly how Spotify wants. Spotify thinks we are so stupid we actually want their janky “shuffle” that doesn’t work properly.

The issue is that GP is misusing the bitter lesson. Yes, search + learn tends to be more effective than human rules based strategies, but that's not what's being considered here. The original claim is effectively that AGI isn'

I think the comic captures that nuance by exaggerating the stupidity of the trump tariffs. If your trade strategy is "we must eliminate all trade deficits" youre gonna have a bad time

Trump tariffs are a corruption tactic. The UAE is paying Trump ~$100 a year to dodge tariffs by holding his stable coin.

Meta is planning to use their own AI to replace their workers. They are spending hundreds of billions of datacenters. If they cut 30,000 workers thats around 15 billion a year in savings. Once their own workers are replaced they plan to sel

The post that responded to you does a good job of explaining why systems exist that are difficult to change even though nobody is happy with them. It even provides 10 examples, although some of them are admittedly bad.

Yes, but a right now a lot of the RAM buy is for demand that doesnt exist yet. Big tech is projecting AI demand and making sure they have enough compute to fulfill that, so AI demand would have to increase even more than they expect, otherw
