This site has the same issue 98% of all websites with a big overlay at the top have - every time you scroll using the page down key, the page jumps too far and you miss one or more lines of text. I hope this gets fixed quickly. Interestingl

This needs [2005] in the title. Prescient timing in the article: "If it's not Google that finally subverts the power structure of the industry, then it'll be someone else...eventually." Just at that time of publication (Nov 2005), Apple wor

I have the same drive and I'm also experiencing massive speed-ups, I'm quite happy with it. But don't forget that with the Momentus, the SSD acts only as a read cache, ie all writes must still go directly to the HDD. With Apple's innovation

Agree 100%. The 1953 coup was one of the worst things US foreign affairs did. It's probably the biggest reason why America is viewed with so much contempt throughout the middle east, still. Not mentioning this fact to an audience that might

Oh both are needed to improve. But I can discern the issues, and the resolution is not yet good enough, imho. You know, you can get increased contrast in several ways. Switching to plasma (or some other high contrast tech) is one, adding mo

I very much disagree with the article. I've seen several 4K TVs, and the picture is amazing. From a typical viewing distance, you can easily see the added resolution, compared to 1080p. I would go ever further, and say that 4K is still not

Somehow this looks a lot uglier than other tilt-shift photos I've seen. I wonder why that is. Bad blurring algorithm? In the trailer, they mention "experimenting" as being a big part of the game. As a programmer, I would love to have a tree

I feel that "two-finger rotation to any angle" is bad idea, if it can't be turned off. The Google Earth iOS app has this feature and I hate the fact that every time I zoom in or out, I move slightly away from the up=north orientation. After

Don't hope too much. The Kindle app on the Mac is horrendously bad. I mailed Bezos personally about it. The mail was acknowledged, but now, 1 year later, the app still stinks as much as before.

Absolutely. Also, as said in the article, "broadband in the US is fickle". I wanted to use it in central europe, as surely did many other, around the world, in south korea etc - but this is another company that focused in very few locations

Watch the video. The seller already had a good system installed, but break-ins kept happening. So he added this laser light show and they stopped. What I get from that is that you should use this system in addition to a normal security sy

It's probably several things: - USB plugs are not double sided, leading to confusion when plugging them in, and often resulting in material fatigue because people force to plug them in the wrong way (iPhones are plugged in much more often t

Why? It's just some contracts and APIs. And it doesn't explain all those other startups that deliberately limit themselves (and then later have to buy local clones because they did not expand quickly enough).

I don't get it. Why do US net startups very often make the same mistake of not expanding into the whole world quickly? It took eBay something like 4 years to go to Germany, by which time there was a local clone there that proved to be uncat

According to the article, they want to do it "the lean startup way". So... why does it have to be self-balancing? Just add a third wheel and it's always stable - no need for gyros and complicated electronics. And as a by-product, you have

If you scale up everything, the aperture stays constant, correct. But since the larger sensor can work with much more light, it therefore has a much higher S/N-ratio. If you switch that camera to a higher aperture, you get less light, leadi

Since this can be turned off in the Quora preferences, you might add an explanation why this is not good enough, e.g. they subverted an expected trust of anonymity by turning a new feature on without asking first, and that defaults matter.
