My biggest problem with "A successful Git branching model" is that it scares people into thinking they have to design and commit to a workflow before they can develop software. Having a defined workflow is not a bad thing. And it

You sound like someone who went down the Haskell rat hole. As someone who also has visited that dark and twisted land... I completely agree with you (every post in this thread). I don't think I ever once experienced the supposed benef

If there's an IRC channel, mailing list, issue tracker, etc., I have a look at it. Active communities are bonus points regardless of the bug list. I also look at how friendly the project is to pull requests and outside development. I

It says that they invalidated the slide-to-unlock patent. I don't understand why Samsung would be dealing with that claim - their unlock is Android's unlock. I really hope they actually invalidated it instead of saying "Sa

How about you simply encrypt your data store? There's no reason you can't encrypt things in such a way that your operating system does not have direct access to it.

Former 1k flyer here. The perks used to be nice. I'd show up at Logan and they'd already have me rerouted if my flight was delayed (and of course, upgraded to 1st class). OK, so that was the one perk. That and the red carpet cl

Agreed. I think github enterprise is worth it for companies, just like I think a Jira instance is a no-brainer. For personal/private, I'm perfectly OK with whatever open source solutions are available. I think it would be a good

We used Github enterprise at my previous job, GitLab at my current one. The only driver - GitLab is free. GitLab is painful if you have a lot of experience with Github. Feature comparison is pretty similar, but then again a feature compa
