I don't think it means much in the big picture but it does seem to be a reasonable example of a company where the hiring process is fair, gender-wise, from start to finish. The only problem is that a mere fraction of the applicants are wom

Even though a majority of people "used to be racist" (I'd say the majority still are) the vast majority of racist behavior is NOT outlawed. Specific behaviors are outlawed and laws are not allowed to be discriminatory based on race. Beside

Well, for most of the JSTOR documents that's probably not the case. But yes sharing with large academic datasets is a real and only partially solved (IOW not solved at all) problem.

The problem with this essay is that is paints us as slaves to our genes. Why would you say this essay "paints us as slaves to our genes?" I didn't read it that way at all. In fact there's so much content there to discuss that I think it

If you aren't Mozart, though, randomness can be a shortcut past writer's block. Sometimes it's a lot easier to rein-in and organize pseudo-randomly generated ideas to make them your own than to allow instincts lead you to the same place ov

You're not writing in under-the-hood, though, you are writing in C. If you want to properly understand compiler warnings and errors you need to know that arrays and pointers are separate types. Yes, "under the hood" it might be the same, b

No not really. What's really going on is that A has been declared as an array of 16 ints, while aa has been declared as a pointer to int. Those are different types, and C treats them differently sometimes (but not all times).

There are arrays. C defines types. When you declare a variable as an array of int, C knows that variable is of type "array of int" and treats that differently than if it had been declared as "array of pointers to int" or "array of char" or

I can't speak for your friends, but while I had zero problems with pointers conceptually, I still had trouble using them in C. The problem wasn't the simple case of declaring a pointer and taking its reference, the difficulty came when the
