Depends what you mean by "the outcome" here. If you mean developing the bomb, then fine. If you mean dropping the bomb, then that seems pretty controversial. I thought it was pretty well established that the USA knew Japan was wil

This is a dialects of English thing. In Britain: pancakes don't use baking powder. They're flat like a slighly thicker crepe. I would describe a thick fluffy pancake made with baking powder as a "Scotch pancake", but in

I think tech culture is just very segregated. By contrast I'd never seen a developer use a Mac until a few years ago except maybe a few people at conferences. Then the past few jobs I've had have all been Mac-dominant.

I don't know how Microsoft could possibly make pivot tables easier. You can easily learn the basics in half an hour's experimental clicking. But, I've had a client explicitly request that a report in Excel shouldn't incl

I mean I don't know about you, but I do like to whinge a bit if I have to use PHP or JavaScript or some framework of misery for a job. Pretty sure I'm not the only one. I still do the job though.

The simplest way to do that is to input an inflation adjusted rate of return. So, if your expected rate of return is 7%, and your expected inflation rate is 2%, then input 5% and you will get an inflation-adjusted version.

"Secular witch burnings" is a term I haven't heard before. Religiously motivated, but conducted by laypeople, yes?

Good question. I guess my answer is not really. I'm not sure why I haven't sought out more of this kind of thing. Still, a couple of random things I can think of: The Spatialite Cookbook is no longer maintained, but I think still

Their use is technically the correct/original one: middle-class means the middle section of a pyramid. In the USA, an alternative definition has become popular, where middle-class is like the middle section of a bell curve.

It's interesting, I wouldn't have guessed the SQL dialect differences to be the main reason to pick one database over another. Other comments on this suggest it's very important to them, which is a surprise to me. Rather, I w
