I did the MITx Circuits and Electronics unit online and it was pretty good. The platform was a lot more advanced than Coursera's, including a little circuit designer tool with various probes and things.

I would suggest that, rather using spec everywhere, you can use it as a barrier to contagion. That is, only checking that data conforms to your spec when it goes through the major interfaces between parts of your program. In this approach,

I'd argue that Spatialite also has its place, but I use both that and PostGIS very happily.

Not quite so disastrous, but still pretty dumb. I was logged in over VPN to a client machine. I suspected the problem I was fixing was something to do with the network misbehaving. It was a Windows machine. I thought "I know: I'll

I really don't thing this is a good answer by itself. For a start it's taking a punt. Before deciding to build a plugin system, you need to decide in which dimensions it will allow extensibility. The answer to that should not be &

I think in practice, the 'cascading' aspect of CSS turned out to be a bad idea. Most people seem to find that, rather than providing the consistent theming it promises, automatic inheritance of properties is confusing and unpredic

Honestly, I'm pretty sure that for most people's use any slowness with multiple cursors in Emacs is nothing to do with the data structure used to store the edits. The noticable delay is due to highlighting closing parentheses.

I think that's more intended as demo server to get you started quickly while you're developing. You'll probably want to switch to uwsgi or gunicorn before you actually deploy anything. I haven't actually used Bottle, but

I tried out Tup, and thought it was really impressive and probably great for people who need to write C, but not suited for what I was trying to do. The project I tried to use it on was a before/after comparison of the results of some

As a British person (who voted to remain), this makes me really sad to read. I think immigration helps to keep society from stagnating. I feel like the UK will be diminished, and that it will have deserved it. (Currently working on emigrati

I would say that what they're calling "data analysis" here is really maths. Knowing how to manipulate tables is relational algebra, even if you never learn the formalisms. Representing the parts of a problem as symbols is jus

Do you remember if GOSUB <label> or GOTO <line number> can take the contents of a variable as an input? If so, then higher-order functions seem possible. Edit: it looks like in at least some versions of basic you can do: ON swit
