The problem is not VS code itself. It's the fact extensions can access things outside of the editor. As far as I am aware, no editor sandboxes extensions.

The problem extends far beyond VS code. All extensions and executable code has the same problem. There was a case where Disney was hacked because an employee installed a BeamNG mod that had bundled malware. A company that wants to remain se

We got to that point a while ago. Many of the major social media’s are essentially uncrawlable. Communities have moved from public forums to private discords. Most of the major social media’s are unviewable without an account.

Keyboard is also both hands equally used. With handwriting less common, I wonder if people are shifting mostly towards using both hands equally now.

You also get people who dump a feature in a PR you don't particularly care about, then that submitter leaves and ages later people start reporting bugs or requests on the feature you didn't even want in the first place.

Anything connected to the internet or integrated with 3rd party systems will have to be maintained regularly forever. Anything that is self contained will last forever. Main reason I avoid buying anything that requires an app. Because one d

The signal of quality for me is the number of contributors and the age of the repo. If I see a repo that's several years old and has many contributes over that time it's very likely a reputable project with some value. If I see a

I’ve noticed this too. A single result can determine the answer it gives. And removing the content from its context makes it harder to assess. Suddenly it’s “Gemini said …” rather than “some guy in the YouTube comments said”.

Seemingly the only use for photo realistic ai generation is deception. We are already seeing AI generated video used in political ads in America.

It's not quite the same but it seems the people who used to be publishing flash games are now making indie games on Steam. With modern dev tools and engines it's possible for one person to make what used to be a team effort before

For all of the use cases being hyped you really do, and you actually need something much better than the SOTA models to do what we are being told can be done. The small models are useful for small things like summarizing text or search but

Seems like GitHub could solve this by making users verify they own a domain name by adding a value to a txt record rather than just seeing the domain points to github and letting any repo use it.

Wouldn't it drive up the cost of finding vulnerabilities when all the low hanging fruit has already been scanned and patched? Like the new baseline for finding a vulnerability will be something an LLM couldn't find.

The networking code is not some 3rd party content that happens to be loaded. It’s an integral part of bambu studio, and if you don’t install it, large parts of the apps functionality won’t work. By a common sense view it is not a plugin at
