I'd think even the JPEG shooters still prefer to sort through the results on a computer and don't need to fire off instagram posts direct from the camera. At any rate, most cameras these days have a companion app that let you grab

What I have heard of the situation is car infrastructure is disproportionally funded because it's used by the rich and influential. It's a drain on public resources when more is spent building huge highways everywhere that the ave

It’s because they all use cloud services these days which the tech companies manage backups for them. The only risk is getting locked out or banned which is far less common than hard drive failures or malware back in the day. It’s still vit

Problem is they have to disconnect from the current wifi ap to connect to the cameras ap which is inconvenient and means there can’t be a constant connection. Wifi NAN could be used to solve this problem but I’ve not seen anything using it.

Cameras had gps for a moment but they all dropped it because it sucks. GPS takes a long time to get a fix so unless you want to turn the camera on and sit for 5 minutes before taking the photo, it doesn’t work. Meanwhile an app on your phon

Online only is fine as an actual backup, presuming you have the primary in your control. It shouldn’t be the only copy of the data that exists.

You want to make sure the append only is enforced by the hosting provider rather than duplicity. Your backups should be resistant to having an attacker on the system who can run arbitrary commands with duplicity.

That only matters if it happens literally at the same time as a failure of your primary storage. If they increase the price you can just close your account and move the backup to another service. The probability of a hard drive failure or r

This is for backups. The threat here is that random ware uses your backup script to delete/encrypt the backups too. With object lock the api key the script has can only add data. The probability that the object store goes out of busine

The timestamp wouldn’t match the event being depicted and the geotag would show the studio. And the depth sensing would show the image as flat.

It looks like the reason for the custom timestamp setup is to assert and upper and lower bound on time. A normal timestamp server can asset it saw the image at a certain time but not that the image wasn’t created much earlier. This setup, t

It seems like the two signatures on device are processed on the camera sensor itself, and then post processing is signed by the SEP. Neither of these would be compromised even if you have a full jailbreak.

This has been possible since the beginning of photography and yet I can’t think of a single scenario where people have been tricked by a staged photo. Yet every day hundreds of millions of people are being fooled by AI generated photos.

Nothing stops you not verifying, or simply stripping the verification off. What you are prevented from doing is adding a verification to a photo outside of the iOS image pipeline, or modifying the photo with the verification still in tact.

Because it’s impossible to implement this feature in open source and out in the open. It relies on a locked down image pipeline and hidden key.

I’m fairly sure that the contact tracing feature has been removed now. And it wouldn’t be needed anyway, the iPhone location services are far more useful. I imagine the geotag could be included with the verification. Location services is qu

At least what I have seen in Ruby and Typescript, they are excellent at doing what you asked for. But if what you asked for is stupid they will happily make it happen. They don’t make normal mistakes like typos and they aren’t lazy so thing

I think the “the rich” in this story is just someone who can afford not garbage boots, and not what we would consider rich today. It’s also possible the situation has changed enough with modern manufacturing that it’s no longer as relevant.

There’s certainly options above temu junk. Maybe it doesn’t meet your bar but I’ve found the 100% cotton stuff from Uniqlo to be massively higher quality than the average. I’ve got tshirts from them I’d guess I’d worn and washed 80+ times.

Competition partially causes this though. When you have 100 brands selling the same thing it became a race to the lowest price.

The actual article borders on just using IDs too. Things like the Union Jack are just stored as is. The techniques here let you encode the currently existing flags but aren’t really enough to build a flag from scratch.

I’m gonna bet in 5 years the price will be in range for the average tech bro to get their hands on one. It just doesn’t make sense to buy this stuff at peak prices.

You are thinking of DNG which is more of a container format. It can use multiple image formats internally to record the actual image, one of them being JPEG-XL. iPhone raw images are actually a jpeg xl inside the DNG.
