They will get bricked sooner or later when some exploit rolls through. If these devices haven't been updated since 2018, they shouldn't be on the internet.

Those people traveling to them are probably just as likely to put something in as a more local passer by. And I'm not sure why I would care that someone the next suburb over read my book. As long as someone is enjoying it, that's

Laying your own datasets on top of OSM is probably the most common use case. OSM isn't much of a replacement to Google and Apple maps as it is a way to build your own custom maps.

These days we just get repulsive AI slop plastered on everything.

Enshitification doesn’t just happen, it’s a choice to sacrifice quality and integrity for short term profit. There are plenty of large products and companies that haven’t gone this way.

You don’t use metadata. You use old book reviews and historical top charts.

Spamming online marketplaces with massive amounts of slop. Even if you only get a few sales per book, you win in volume.

YouTube essays have been slop for a while though. Before AI it was just people reading the Wikipedia page on the topic.

There was a case a while back now of an AI generated mushroom identification book filled with inaccuracies. Problem is short of filtering out anything published after 2023 it’s almost impossible to find something that isn’t slop now.

I feel like scoped css and component libraries fixed this issue. I don’t have a .button, I just have a <Button> that has all its css self contained. And just a shared color definition file.

You only ever hear about this stuff while it's up. The NFT bros have been quite for a long time now.

I've been using LLMs as a rubber duck for scenarios, and I've found they just agree with whatever the last thing you said was unless its blatantly wrong. They will happily 180 the opinion to match the last message, never ask furth

Managers all have AI psychosis right now and the only way to get by is going along with their nonsense.

I used it through openrouter. Plugged in to the vs code copilot bring your own key thing. Played around for a few hours and used up 80 cents of tokens.

Yeah but with 10GW we can generate more AI videos of politicians to trick boomers. It's worth destroying everything for that.

LLMs can do that. The one that's built in to google search is relatively stupid, but it just uses web pages to fill in the gaps. The downside is it is incredibly easy to be tricked by a single false bit of info.

Being over reactive to anything you hear in the news is generally a bad idea. It’s always a view so zoomed in to a single blip on the chart that ignores the wider landscape.

This always felt like way to work around libel laws. Where they can claim "People on twitter are saying x", as an indirect way of making a claim without having to be liable for it.

The vagueness could be intentional. There’s been a big issue with linux where proof of concept exploit code gets posted before the bug is announced because people reverse engineer it from the fix commits. Apple has the advantage that they c

They also can’t charge if they can’t fix it. And they don’t know the extent of the damage beforehand. So they could waste an hour of labor before finding its unfixable. In that time they could have done 3 iPhone battery replacements.
