I see pictures of highway construction in developing counties and think gads they're doing stuff we realized was a bad idea 50 years ago. One thing I've really noticed about the US is suburb layouts are designs to shield people fr

When I think of the implications of solar panels I think possession is 9 tenths of the law. Defaulting on loans used to buy solar panels means you still have the panels and the energy they produce. If you can't afford to import oil and

You shouldn't analyze an owner occupied house as the same type of investment that a real estate investor does. The biggest reason is the source of funds you're using is your rent money. You can't invest your rent money in sto

The top three things I learned in control theory class were 1. PID's work adequately for more situations than anything else. 2. If a PID doesn't work you should redesign your hardware. 3. Phase noise will totally mess with you.

Imagine when your HD is just local cache for their cloud services. Oh yes you have a terabyte drive but you can't actually use more than 50 GB of it for storage without paying them. You know this is what they are up to.

I think it's interesting that C still exists despite great efforts to kill it. First it was C++, then it was Java, now it's rust. Perhaps it would be easier to fire WG14 for incompetence[1], add a few things to the language, and u
