Electric motors can have quite a low efficiency in slow speed / high torque regime, where robots operate, because torque scales linearly with current, and power loss (resistance -> heat) scales quadratically to current (P=UI, U=RI -

Sure, externalities should be priced somehow, and this is the core problem, but demanding or forcing people to limit consumption is wrong.

A lot of growth activity in businesses is zero sum, if it isn't increasing the efficiency of production. Businesses can't create demand from thin air with marketing. Total productivity of the world is number_of_people * productivi

I think electric motors are just barely suitable for mobile / humanoid robots. Compared to human muscles, they're heavy and they overheat quickly. Current humanoid robots are spending most of their energy in carrying around just t

Is this a joke? Growth is caused by consumer demand, and answering to it in the best way possible. It's not an 'obsession' of the capitalist businesses or countries. Capitalism is simply an algorithm which tries to allocate r

Is it really worth having separate GPU and NE? Seems redundant and weird compared to what Nvidia is doing, i.e. "GPUs are good NEs", or is that not really true?

You might want to take magnesium with Vitamin D, because taking vitamin D depletes magnesium. Not sure if it's strictly necessary, but if you're already low on magnesium it might be an issue. I once got tinnitus (which lasted a fe

Meta uses dark patterns to inflate Threads DAU. If you install Threads, it starts sending notifications for suggested posts every day. It also sends notifications on Instagram, and when you click it, it opens a random post on Threads. I don

Yes, afaik the source of issues is GPS jamming. To add to my point, with multiple antennas it's also possible to spatially separate signals. Not sure if Starlink is doing that, but I think it should be possible to escape GPS jammers by

Starlink uses beamforming with directional antenna arrays, so it should be rather difficult to jam compared to omnidirectional antennas. It's basically a dish pointed at the satellite, so the jammer should be in between to work. Antenn

We once built pyramids, massive castles, temples and churches which took hundreds of years to build. We don't build those things any more. Same happened to music and art. There's this eternal sloppification of everything, although

Demographic change can be caused by just a low birth rate, which is more of an economic issue, but it can also be combined with immigration, which may result in changing culture, i.e. "replacement". This issue is currently mostly

These are survey results, not actual memory test results. They answered positively to having "serious difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions”. I'd bet $1000 bucks that these people don't have actual memory

Dogs can already talk using buttons and great apes can talk with sign language. This seems feasible, maybe even without a microchip, just with non-invasive reading of brain waves.

The rate of radiative cooling scales proportionally to (T^4-Tenv^4) which approximates to just T^4 in space (Tenv = 3K). The hotter they can run it, the smaller heatsinks they need; for every doubling of temperature, the heatsink area can b
