Uhh, what? Reddit and Twitter have completely different models. Twitter is very person-oriented ("what is this person saying") while Reddit is very topic-oriented ("what are people saying about this topic"). They have co

Wouldn’t you need to put everybody in test mode anyway for, you know, the test?

Simple solution: codesign the “official” builds. Have a “test mode” LED on the device, and have the firmware refuse to turn the light on when running an unsigned build. Bonus points if you allow dual booting into the standard build for test

Do we know Amazon's policy on "peeking" into people's AWS data? I feel like they would have something against that in their ToS/Privacy Policy.

There is literally no way for a non-active app on iOS to record without a red bar at the top of the screen. The only way that IG could possible get away with this is by somehow detecting that the phone screen was not visible and only record

Perhaps I'm just used to it, but I find SC's UI/UX to be quite nice to use. I would be disappointed if Snapchat's UI changed to be more like Instagram's; IG's UI may be more discoverable, but it just doesn'

Wait what? “Code with security bugs is subject to malware” is not news. The only interesting bit of this headline would be an existing bug in DNA-reading code.

I’m pretty sure most languages, even interpreted, can run at least small programs in 64MB. If you want to minimize memory usage at all costs, I think you’d want a non-GC compiled language (C(++), Swift and Rust come to mind).

utf8 isn’t “bloated.” A utf8 file with just ASCII characters (every character you’ll see in JS, with the exception of foreign language strings) is identical to the ASCII encoding. You may be thinking of UTF16, which does use two bytes for e

This is an encoding of the JS AST, so it has a 1-to-1 mapping to JS (modulo whitespace, but the JS would probably be minified anyway). It would be trivial to build a tool to convert this back into JS, and browser devtools will probably do t
