I highly recommend FoxyProxy for managing proxies in Firefox. http://getfoxyproxy.org/ You can easily enable/disable multiple proxy configurations and there is a rule-based mode where you define which traffic should go out on which proxy.

This sounds like major overkill. If the only problem is the data in the iframe url, couldn't they POST the data into the iframe? Create the iframe with some JS that POSTs a form containing the data to the canvas app. The resulting iframe

It works great in Linux and OSX. I think windows probably hates the font. The other sites you see trouble on were probably designed on Linux or OSX as well.
