Most of them are just clueless. They either have no concept of the work involved or they genuinely believe that their idea is a precious thing on it's own and are doing you a favor by sharing it. They tend to go on remaining clue-deficient

Another way of visualizing (2) is to look at a hardback book or binder and imagine the top and bottom edges of the spine as two different possible hinges.

If I could come up with a sarcastic one-liner that summarized my hope and belief that not every thread involving Apple has to turn into a holy war, I would post that here.

Think of this as an opportunity to learn how to deal with things you don't particularly want to do. If you walk away because it's draining, when are you ever going to not walk away? How will you know the difference between something you s

The labels stand to gain more from this than they do trying to sue everybody. If they started suing people based on data from Apple, what would be the lesson to pirates? Don't pay for iTunes Match . D'oh! The aim of suing people is deterre

I enjoyed Gigerenzer's Gut Feelings quite a bit. I was afraid from the title that it would be Gladwell-ized into mush, but came away quite happy that it wasn't. As a counterpoint to K&T it's very good, less because of any disagreement

Do your parents use any iOS devices? It sounds like you're explaining iCloud in excessive detail to someone who has no use for it and doesn't understand the concept of syncing at all. Someone used to iTunes is not going to be that confused

What I don't get is why it isn't just a generic music streaming service? That's easy: iTunes is already the biggest music retailer, and there's ten billion plus tracks out there that don't need iTunes Match at all. If I have to pay... Y

You are approaching a very broad problem with a very personal set of premises. I don't believe you'll find any answer sufficient. None would have for me at (what I'm guessing is) your age. I dropped out of high school weeks before what woul

The PDF that seems to be the source of this story doesn't appear to be on Apple's site, nor does it seem to be complete (it references "this Agreement" but bears no such title). I'm not really seeing the story here. It sounds more like some

In defense of a cheesy classroom poster, a better verb would be observe . You're (reasonably) interpreting "watch" as something like "control" ("Watch this prisoner."), but it can also mean simply to look at ("Watch the tide roll in.") As

The tricky thing is that not having it at all doesn't suck, either. We've been seeing this same argument come and go for years now and the practical reality is that nobody cares that much either way. Flash has turned out to be neither a cri
